This is a harder stone that will stay flat and will produce a flatter blade profile. It is loaded with nashi-ji particles that aid in its cutting qualities. On the back of the stone there is a portion of the natural skin showing and you can also see traces of nashi-ji.

I would rate this stone in the 38,000 grit level.
