SUITA AWASEDO
196 - 71 - 25mm
.92 kg. = 2 lbs.
At the top right reads SHO HONZAN AWASE TOISHI HIN
(original mountain finish sharpening stone)
And to the left center TOKYU JO (best quality)
This is a very hard stone that stays flat and
cuts well but not too fast with just water, but if used with a DN it cuts
very fast and leaves the hard hagane steel very bright and mirror like
while leaving the jigane soft and hazy. Because of the low price, this
would be an excellent stone for someone who has never used a very hard
stone before, but wants to try to see what all of the fuss is about.
The stone has black urushi with gauze on the back
and sides as you can see in the photos and the back of the stone is not
totally flat so is needs to be used in a stone holder.
I would rate this stone in the 38,000 to 40,000
grit range.
