SUITA AWASEDO
205 - 77 - 43mm
1.7 kg. = 3.9 lbs.
Reads from the top right down SHO HONZAN AWASE
TOISHI (pure original mountain finish stone)
And down the middle right SUITA
This light colored suita stone aggressively cuts
both white and blue steel. It is hard and when sharpening leaves black
filings in a pool of clear water. If a diamond nagura is used, the stone
cuts very very fast. A full size stone that is meaty thick with
faint spots of dark nashi-ji it is an old mined stone from around the
1930s to 1940s that and has a microns thin sheen of oxidation that when
worn through the stone will look lighter in color and will be easier to
use because the suita pores will open up for water retention to help
create and maintain a slurry. This sheen can be taken off immediately with
a diamond plate or through use in sharpening and is already thinner in the
test area towards the lower half of the stone.
It came from a closed up store in a small town in
Japan.
